Oh, I’m not speaking of the writer at all. I absolutely meant the chick asking the question. And that was my point-

“disposed to preserve existing conditions, institutions, etc.”

That’d be the Constitution, which even before a coupla Amendments did not segregate anyone.

The writer’s response was pretty funny actually, I liked it. My response was my own personal response to the girl who sent the message. She’s not afraid her parents are conservative, she’s afraid they’re racist. And the two are entirely separate.

Well, in our writers defense, the girl herself used the term when speaking about her parents. I think there are probably a lot of people out there who use the term conservative in this manner. Perhaps they aren’t thinking about the political definition, but rather this one:

disposed to preserve existing conditions, institutions, etc.

So perhaps she comes from a less racially diverse place of upbringing, and is afraid her parents won’t accept her dating outside of what they deem “normal.” Just my two cents.

First, this was blatantly biased and suggests that conservatives are somehow racist. Her parents may be, and that’s fine. Sucks to be them. Conservatism in it’s most literal sense, has no racial undertone whatsoever. Her parents could be Christian, republican, and racist. They’re not conservative. Not even close. What they are, are Christian, republican, and racist. That’s it. Conservatism strictly means that you’re free, both socially and economically, from Government usurpation of power.

Secondly, there are just as many racists in liberal circles.

Third, she should probably think about just dating whoever the hell she wants to and not worry what anyone else thinks. She’s a big girl now.

…nice sound advice…i, myself, am always looking for a new gene pool to take a dip in…in a another thousand years who will know the genetic difference anyway?…i say get ta mixing…get in where you fit in…in a world this size it would be a real shame to miss a chance on love or at least a good piece of ass…

Yes. I may mention that I’m dating someone, so they don’t think I’m screwing every tom, dick, and harry on my weekends away from children, but they don’t have to meet each one.

In my five years since divorce they’ve only met 2 men in my life and the first was fluke.

My parents town was one that we moved to when I was 15. We came from a fairly urban area to one that was terribly closed and divided. Nothing has changed.

How the hell did we allow for so long the idea that reputation has anything to do with someone’s preference for another human being? That particular preference defines MY character? Don’t think so. In fact your intolerance defines yours.

Like I said to Sarah also, things change if/when you ever leave the bubble. Since I’ve been spending so much time recently in the one that I grew up in I can clearly see how not much has changed. Those with “reputations” still have them, but that’s their choice. They’ve obviously not made any drastic changes since, oh, I don’t know…freakin’ high school!!
