It’s asked as if it’s a bad thing, wow what a disaster, you’re single! What’s the big deal about that? I remember telling someone, “It’s because I’m nuts and sooner or later they find out.” The person I said that to disappeared after that. Hmmm, you don’t think they believed me do you? I’m not technically single, nor technically in a relationship…see how complicated it starts getting when I try to address the label question posed to me? I’ve never actually uttered the words, “I’m gay.” “I’m bisexual” “I’m straight”. However, I’ve never denied who I like and in fact am pretty blunt about it, but whenever label defining questions are put to me I’ve always just gone along with it. “Are you straight?” Sure. Sounds good. I’m not an easy person to interrogate when it comes to questions that involve typecasting me into a perfect little box so that I make sense to you and that I’m cut and dry, black and white. You’d probably end up walking away frustrated while I giggle like a naughty child that I’ve painted you into a corner. You’ve formed your opinion by seeing me kiss whoever, so I’ll just go along with it, it’s easier, it’s quick, I don’t have to explain. The bottom line for me has always been the only reason you should be asking about my relationships status or orientation, or what have you is because you’re interested in dating me.
